Consultations

Appointments can be made for consultations with our GP’s and Practice Nurses via the phone, online or in person. The practice is open 8am-6pm Monday to Friday. Standard consult times are 15 minutes but if you require a long consultation for review of a complex health issue or multiple issues or counselling, please let reception staff know. Appointments are offered for in-person and/or telehealth under certain circumstances. Telehealth appointments are offered over the phone.
Fees are time based and we are a private billing practice.

Medical examinations for your specialised appointments eg driver’s license and other purposes, require special bookings with the doctor or nurse. Please ensure that you discuss/explain the type of medical exam to our receptionist and please bring any forms required with all relevant sections completed beforehand.

Procedures

The doctors within the practice, with support from nursing staff, perform minor procedures. Procedure appointments are time based and based on the doctor’s assessment. Your doctor will advise if this is necessary and will discuss any fees that may be incurred.
Please call the practice first thing in the morning if you need your doctor to make a home visit.

Children 5 years and under are bulk billed.

Cancellation and Non-attendance Policy

At Hughes Family Practice, when you book an appointment with one of our practitioners, their time is dedicated to you. We know your time is precious, and so is ours. You will receive an SMS reminder the business day before your appointment. Can’t make it? Simply call our friendly reception staff during business hours and organise another appointment.

Our practice abides by a 3 hour policy for all cancellations and changes of appointments. This allows enough time for your appointment to be reallocated to other patients. If you wish to change or cancel your appointment we require at least 3 hours notice by phone, otherwise a fee of $50 may apply. Likewise if you fail to attend an appointment, a fee of $50 may apply for the time booked. Long appointment cancellations and non-attendance will be charged a fee of $80.
